Andrew Forbes Lane

Tenor

Andrew was educated at the Leys School Cambridge, the University of Manchester and the Royal Northern College of Music.

After a period as a lighting designer, theatre manager and theatre company manager he trained as a singer and went on to perform as a soloist with Opera North, Welsh National Opera, English National Opera, Birmingham Opera Company and Glyndebourne. He also performed with City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Halle, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and at the BBC Proms.

His work took him abroad frequently and he sang in Brussels, Paris, Valencia Singapore and New York. He was also the first classical singer to give recitals in Kathmandu.

He has always been a lover of the English arts songs and French songs and his concert programmes are an eclectic mixture of these and songs from the musical stage, including West End musicals, Gilbert and Sullivan, Ivor Novello and Flanders and Swann.

He now mixes his time with concerts, writing, teaching, helping to look after his house and garden and walking the dogs.

He has been involved with Much Loved Productions since its inception.
