Bill Walker
Orchestra Stage and Platform Manager

Bill was born in Perth, Scotland and joined the Navy at 16. After completion of service he joined the Police Force. Having been injured while on duty he was medically discharged
in the late 1980’s.

Bill joined Opera North and the English Northern Philharmonic in November 1989 and now holds the position of Pit Supervisor and Concert Stage Manager for the Orchestra. He has toured all over Britain with large concerts and Opera for the company.

He has worked with many orchestras including the Leeds Symphony Orchestra, The Philharmonic Festival Orchestra and the New World Orchestra.

Bill is Concert Stage Manager for the British Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and Much Loved Productions. He has recently become Health and Safety Advisor for the Bradford branch of the Musicians Union and has been elected to the committee.

Bill is married with a grown up son and daughter and lives in the Victorian ‘model’ village of Saltaire near Bradford
