David Smith

David R Smith was born in Yorkshire and was trained at the Royal Manchester College Of Music. His career to date has consisted of a wide variety of work in most areas of professional music. David is currently Head of Performance Studies at Leeds College of Music, where he has responsibility for all instrumental teaching and performance activity. As musical director David has worked with many well-known cabaret artists and his work has taken him to top venues throughout the country.

Perhaps best known as an accompanist, his concert work takes him to many concert halls and theatres in the UK, and he regular performs in the USA, where he has played such places as Miami, Philadelphia, New York and Boston. His many television appearances include, 'Calendars' for Yorkshire Television, and a range of other programmes from The New Statesman to Heartbeat.

Film credits include "Romance On The Orient Express" starring Cheryl Ladd, and more recently in "Till we Meet Again" by Judith Krantz. On radio David has played many sessions, and has also acted as musical director for various programmes and series. David also provides music for executive entertainment, particularly for banqueting.

His wide range of musical repertoire and style allows him to tailor his music to specific themes or events. David’s relaxed style and manner but with a sophisticated touch makes him a popular choice for private dinner parties and receptions.
