John Ayldon
John has sung A feast of Gilbert and Sullivan for the company for 12 years
John Ayldon is well known for his appearances with the original D’Oyly Carte Opera Company playing the principal bass roles both here and abroad from 1969 to 1982 when the company closed. Since then he has been involved in many performing aspects of the theatre including, Opera and Operetta (with Welsh National Opera, New Saddlers Wells, Dublin Grand Opera and Neath Opera, The Camden, Brighton and Wexford Festivals, Birmingham Music Theatre, London Savoyards, The Magic Of Gilbert & Sullivan, Althorpe House and The Canadian Opera Company), numerous concerts in the UK, also Singapore, Hong Kong, USA and on board the QE2, Olde Time Music Hall, Seaside Revue, appearances on BBC TV, Radio and
Dame in Pantomime.
John was in Phantom Of The Opera in London for a year, and played Pooh Bah in The Mikado for the New D’Oyly Carte in the USA.
He appeared regularly at Gawsworth Hall. John created the role of Pope in the ill-fated musical Which Witch at the Piccadilly Theatre in 1992.
Engagements have included many USA tours of G&S concerts and appearances at the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival in Buxton and Philadelphia.
