Anna-Clare Monk

Soprano

Anna-Clare grew up in the charming English village of Poulton-le-Fylde in Lancashire. At the age of thirteen she chanced upon a BBC documentary featuring the prestigious Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester. Inspired, she wrote to the school requesting an audition following which she was awarded a full scholarship to study singing. At eighteen, Anna-Clare continued her studies at the Royal Northern College of Music and National Opera Studio in London, this time with funding from the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and the Peter Moores Foundation.

From these beginnings she went on to perform with leading Opera Houses and at venues across the world. These have included English National Opera, Royal Albert Hall, London, Teatro Communale, Bologna, Teatro Victoria, Barcelona, Welsh National Opera, Herodes Atticus, Athens, Scottish Opera, Engilsh Touring Opera, Teatro Acrimbaldi, Milan, Lyric Opera House, Baltimore, City Hall, Hong Kong, Malmo Koncerthus, Sweden, Falconer Salen, Copenhagen, Cincinnati Opera House and Aix-en-Provence Festival, France.

Recently Anna-Clare toured the United States with The Opera Show, a vivid MTV style presentation which introduced the genre to new and appreciative audiences from the frost-bitten climes of New York to the warm Florida sunshine… and all in four and a half weeks!
