Alison Madin

Principal Flute


As an undergraduate Alison studied with Ron Marlowe and Colin Chambers before moving to London to gain her teaching qualification where she continued flute tuition with Peter Lloyd the then principal flute in the LSO.
Living in Nottingham, Alison now continues to juggle a freelance playing career with her teaching, including work with Sinfonia Viva, English Philharmonic, English Pro-Musica, Nottingham Festival Opera, South Yorkshire Opera and the Lincolnshire Chamber Orchestra.
She is especially honoured to have performed as a soloist with the British Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and has performed the Cimarosa double flute concerto with Derby Concert Orchestra and Vivaldi concerto for flute and organ RV541 with the Nottingham Philharmonic Orchestra.
Alison presently works as part of the Leadership team for Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership, a role which includes being the Director of Music of a lively Music Centre, conducting wind bands and orchestras and is actively involved in many music educational projects in local schools.
